How to blend your own natural antibacterial cleaning spray!

DIY general all-purpose antibacterial spray

One of our favourite parts of the Diploma in Aromatherapy is the joy of being able to blend your own lotions and potions! It enables you safely blend your own natural and non-toxic products just like this homemade cleaning spray. Not only is it effective it has the added benefit of a beautiful scent!


To create your own general all-purpose antibacterial spray there are a few very simple steps.

You will need:

  • 120ml Spray bottle with atomiser and cap
  • 100ml of distilled water
  • 10 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil
  • 5 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil
  • 5 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
  • 5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
  • Liquid Castile Soap (optional)

Step by step guide:

  1. Make up 100ml distilled water in your spray bottle.
  2. Add the following drops of essential oils; 10 drops of Tea Tree, 5 drops of Eucalyptus, 5 drops of Peppermint and 5 drops of Lemon.
  3. Optional - if you prefer a foamier spray, add a small squirt of liquid castile soap.
  4. Secure the lid, shake before each use and enjoy your DIY antibacterial cleaning spray!

* Spot test first on an inconspicuous area, allowing time to dry, to ensure that the solution is suitable for your surfaces.
