About Nicola:

Whilst I initially trained in sports massage, my subsequent training to use different techniques, enables me to provide a bespoke and nurturing treatment working either on a specific area or the whole body, whether you are active/inactive have cancer or have had cancer. I can provide a more therapeutic style of massage to calm mind and body, improve your immune system or focus on treating specific injuries/dysfunction using massage or dry needling techniques.

Treatments will be completely tailored to ensure your needs are met according to your stage of health, whether thats over a single session or if a longer treatment plan is required.

Massage and/or dry needling can release soft tissue tension, relieve stiffness, decrease muscle spasms, release restrictions and soften and realign scar issue and loosen up adhesions, helping to restore optimal function. By releasing tension and restrictions in soft tissue, using a range of techniques, it can help to re-establish a balance in muscle function where needed and increase mobility and flexibility, ultimately reducing stress on joints and contribute to overall physical and emotional well being.

Nicola also specialises in Oncology Massage.

Why is Oncology Massage Different?

I understand the symptoms and treatments of cancer to ensure the massage is modified according to the stage of your treatment and health on the you are wanting a massage. The approach I use for a client who has breast cancer will be very different to a client who has non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. This being in terms of the techniques I use, the areas I work on and the length of the treatment. This may change over time according to your stage of health and the goals of your treatment, which could change over time.

The Benefits of Massage if you have or have had Cancer

  • Increases relaxation - encourages deeper breathing

  • Improves quality of sleep

  • Relieves muscle soreness

  • Increases movement / mobility / range of movement

  • Offers pain relief

  • Decreases anxiety and depression

  • Stimulates lymphatic flow

  • Decreases oedema and lymphedema

  • Stimulates the sympathetic nervous system

  • Stimulates digestive system

  • Faster recovery from anaesthesia

  • Stimulates faster wound healing

What to expect from your Appointment?

At the start of your first appointment, I will ask you to complete an intake form and also discuss with you the goals of your session - whether that be to relieve specific pain/discomfort/tension, to feel more relaxed or help you to sleep better. I will design the session so it is entirely bespoke to you according to how you feel on the day. The massage will not be painful, but will use firm pressure and a range of techniques. I will work for anywhere between 15-60mins, I will let your body dictate how long the session should last. If you are going through treatment and do not feel well enough to attend the appointment, I urge you to listen to your body and get in touch so that we can rearrange.

Whilst I can provide an oncology massage across both of my treatment rooms, you may find that my Treatment Room at home, on a Tuesday and Friday is more private, relaxing, quiet and potentially appropriate. However, you are welcome on any day at either location. If you are unable to travel, and you would like me to visit you at your home, in hospital or in a hospice, please get in touch via phone or email to arrange this.

About Alwyn:

My name is Alwyn, but most people call me Will.

A warm welcome to my clinic based here in Breadstone, Berkeley, the views have a wonderfully calming effect on my Customers.

I am a local Gloucestershire lad and I come from an active/sports background. In particular, Rugby was my passion, and I played at a reasonable standard.

I was first introduced to the benefits of soft tissue manipulation on a sports injury course in the military back in 1989.  From then on I knew that it was something that I wished to pursue as a career.  so soon after leaving the Military I set out to gain the qualifications and experience to practise, whilst still working full time.

I have gained a wealth of experience, working with private individuals, sports clubs, professional referrals, and a loyal client base, who are all of different ages, professions, and abilities. So please don’t think that only sports people can benefit from massage therapies - I treat people from all walks of life with a wide range of issues. These could be work related repetitive strain injuries to trauma/impact recovery treatments.   No two client needs are the same. And treatment plans are tailored to the individual’s needs.

I have a real passion for the Industry and take great pride and satisfaction in helping support people in achieving their goals or aiding them with their recovery.

About Dave:

Remedial Massage:

I am fascinated by the way the human body adapts to change because of dysfunction - it is truly amazing. Stress, injury, poor posture and the strains of everyday life can take a heavy toll on our physical wellbeing. The body copes brilliantly, until, one day it doesn't any more and we feel stiff, sore, unable to move properly without pain or discomfort.

By using remedial massage therapy, together we can improve, release and resolve your pain and set you on the road to a healthier, more comfortable life.

I am qualified in Massage for Complementary Therapies (ITEC level 3), Sports Massage Therapy (ITEC level 3 & 4) - which includes Anatomy and Physiology, Principles of Health and Fitness, Subjective and Objective Assessment, Soft Tissue Repair, and Techniques to Prevent and Manage Injury. Also, I hold a BTEC level 2 First Person on Scene First Aid Certificate and am a member of The Complementary Therapists Association.

Running Fitness:

I've been running for fun and fitness for over 30 years. I have

taken part in many events from flat 5Km fun-runs, to challenging 7km/10 km/9 & 10 mile races/half marathons, off road, on road, in every season of the year; some with more success than others.

I love Running Fitness, and took a Coach qualification with England Athletics over 9 years ago, which enabled me to understand the physiology of running, nutritional balance, performance factors, focus and ability. Since then I have been involved in leading small groups, training individuals, and planning and organising small race events.

Through years of monitoring my own running experience, studying the guru's and helping others, I have discovered that running really works. It gives you health, peace and is an immense resource for happiness.
